Anecdotes

On this page are our top ten favorite (and sometimes equally reasonable) "solutions" that we heard of after The Hunt had ended.

Didja hear the one about...

10

The several clever groups who went to music stores and had the salespersons tell them what all the songs were?

9

The people who tried to "crack" the security measures on the HyperCard disk to find out the five clues? These clever few found themselves faced with, in addition to the 5 real clues, 145 fake clues ranging from "M" to "Honest, officer, I never saw this gerbil before in my LIFE!"

8

The mathematics major who convinced himself that "one plus thirty-three" was anything but thirty-four?

7

The groups that had their Toblerones gift-wrapped at the mall? ("Oh, so you fellows are from the The Hunt, too?")

6

The team which added up the numbers, went to the Galleria, bought the candy, wrapped the strip around the candy, added up the numbers, identified them as a store number, went to B. Dalton's and asked if they would take the coupon and were told "No, I've never seen that before"? (Software Etc. is in the back of the store.)

5

The group that when searching the area for "a statue without breasts?"

4

The group that found a parking lot with 34 spaces in it and in the 33rd spot was a rental car with the license plate "N28-YES"? They were in Nirvana.

3

The two Brown sophomores who terrorized an IHOP? As they are frantically rooting through newspapers and other trash, the guy at the counter reads one of their shirts, "Oh, are you on a hunt?" "YES! YES!" they scream back.

2

The person who, at the suggestion(?) of the radio, started dialing random phone numbers and got a mental institution? "THE ANSWER IS 22!! WHAT IS THE MASTER CLUE?!?!?!? I NEED THE MASTER CLUE!!!"

1

The person who thought he found a bunch of Lithuanians at Harvey Suites? He approached what were described by his teammates as "Arab-looking" gentlemen and quoted from the ad on page 13, "Ya Khachoo vam dat moy zhizn." This phrase can be translated from Russian to "I want to give you my life."

Well, gang thanks for participating in The Hunt. It was a lot of fun for us to put it together - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Dare we suggest: see you next year?
