Funding by:
- Club 7
Thanks to everyone who participated in our fundraisers all year - a tremendous amount of potential studying (or slugging) time was contributed by many people on and associated with the seventh floor of Brown College, and this effort is greatly appreciated. The Hunt could not have happened without them. Special thanks in this area go out to Brett Nelsen, Carol Ellinger, Tom Robbins, Michelle Yeh, Lynn Gallagher, and Shala Phillips.
- Gulf Coast Mensa
They may have thought we were crazy at first, but we won them over with a player harmonica prototype demonstration. Thanks to Robert Gaither and the Gulf Coast Mensa Board.
- Brown College
We weren't on their budget, but Brown still helped us out. Thanks.
- Rice Program Council
Thanks to Stan Hsue for his advice and to the entire RPC for their trust and support.
Goods and Services donated by:
- Calico Print Company
Thanks very much to Mickey, who runs the friendliest and most quality-conscious print shop (by far) in Houston, for putting up with our tight schedule for the second year and for teaching us how to do a t-shirt the right way.
- Subway
Thanks to Eric for contributing a great lunch for so many people. (We probably could have fed 140 people with Subway sandwiches if we'd saved all the ones we'd bought during late-night planning sessions during the month before The Hunt.)
- Office Depot
Allen McDonald and his staff at the Copy Center were a pleasure to work with. They're friendly, and unlike some competitors, they appreciate Rice business.
- The Wyndham Warwick Hotel
Thanks to the Wyndham Warwick staff for the conference rooms and for all the cooperation, both before and during The Hunt. They were a great help as we frantically set up the interactive room the morning of The Hunt, and they gracefully handled the 30 Hunt-crazed teams coming in throughout the day.
- Texas Video & Post
A billion thanks to John Matthews, who really stuck his neck out for us by doing a fantastic job on the computer animated Hunt logo.
- Musicomm
Thanks to Mark Holden for adding his original music score to the Hunt Logo video animation.
- Weingarten Realty
"Wow. Wow. Oh, wow..." is all we could say when we saw the place the realty company let us use for free on the day of The Hunt and for a month in advance. Rodney's served as our main offices, and the final presentation and party held there were a success as well. Thanks to Patty Bender, John Fogel, Susan Mezursky, and everyone else at Weingarten Realty who helped us coordinate the arrangement.
- Z107
We greatly appreciate the support we got from Z107, especially on such short notice. Thanks to Z107 for their cooperation and their accuracy - any word other than "magazine" would have completely destroyed The Hunt.
- Software, Etc.
Mark Johlke is certainly one friendly guy. Thanks for generously donating several boxes of computer disks for the second year in a row.
- BFI
Thanks for donating (ahem) - well, we had to have one somehow - a toilet - for the night of the party.
- Bright Star Productions
Thanks to Malcolm Hackney for donating his smoke machine for the day.
- Rice University
Various members of Rice administration deserve recognition for helping us with some of the administrative details. In particular, we'd like to thank Steve Moniaci and Rice Athletics for the use of Rice Stadium, Scott Andrews for publicity, Marty Vest for tables, Bob Mathis for chairs, John Eliott for the air tank and regulator, John Kroll and Stan Dodds for the use of their laser and optical equipment, and Dr. Paul Stevenson for his cameo appearance in the video clue displayed at the Galleria.
- The Galleria
Many apologies to the stores in The Galleria who had never even heard of The Hunt until they were accosted by temporarily insane Hunt participants who did the fake tasks. We also give many thanks to the eight stores in the Galleria and in the Randall's shopping center at Westheimer and Shepherd who did ageree to volunteer their support, perhaps not really knowing what was in store for them:
- Circus World
- The Fun Shop
- Gap Kids
- Macy's
- McDonald's
- Paper, Etc.
- Randall's
- Sam Houston Books
Special Thanks:
Many, many, many, many, many thanks also to Dr. and Mrs. Brelsford, the Brown College Masters and to Sarah Nelson Crawford, Dean of Student Activities, for their unconditional support throughout the entire planning and execution of The Hunt 1991.
Thanks also to everyone who played - we hope to see you again next year.
And of course - thanks last (and possibly least) to our unofficial mascot - we Can't Smile Without You, Barry.
